Congratulations! You did it!
You made the very wise decision of trekking through the jungle of bloggers out there and discovering little old me.
Thank you for visiting Life NI Style!
Life NI Style is a personal lifestyle blog written by Orlagh Laverty.
Welcome!
Grab a nice warm cuppa, find your nesting spot, sit back and relax and let me (hopefully) entertain you with my countless notions and whims about the things that matter to me.
So rather than potentially boring you to death with the approved, cautionary stuff, I thought I would list a few “fascinating” things you may want to learn about me.
I am currently the grand old age of twenty-six. Two years ago I wrote how I looked so young for my age. Well now I never get ID'd. Never. My grey hairs are definitely showing my age.
My hair is naturally curly. Unfortunately the colour is not au natural. The grey hairs have to be covered up!
I have watched the movie '500 days of Summer' about 20 times, much to the dismay of my lovely friends who shared a house with me while studying at university. My husband now knows the extent of my obsession. Also running around Ikea is not 'cute'. What was I thinking? Get the divorce papers ready because a trip to this place may break you.
On the topic of Zooey Deschanel, I have watched my 'New Girl' boxset about 20 times now.
Yep, I still have a massive girl crush on Zooey Deschanel, with Emilia Clarke a close second,
I graduated in 2013 with a degree in fashion and textile design. I specialised in knitwear design and spent many a late night surrounded by knitting machines and yarn. Learning to forget what time of day it was when studying an arts or design degree was a skill in itself.
I married a very lovely man called Paul. We got married in October 2017 and it was one the best days of my life.
Even though I absolutely love knitting, sewing and making, I have a real passion for writing about fashion and design. Not necessarily writing about the latest trends or predicting if Karl Lagerfeld will one day decide to ditch the black and wear a lighter shade of black, but more so writing about the merging of music and fashion subcultures.
I'm meant to wear glasses but I don't wear them. But as I sat down to write my new blog post I realised that yes, I actually do need said glasses. Glasses and grey hairs. Just give me the free bus pass.
I believe in the promotion of creative people of Northern Ireland. As someone who feels the only outlet in expressing myself is through being imaginative and inventive I believe the whole creative community needs to be acknowledged in this country. (I could probably write an essay on this topic).
So there we have it! A little insight into who I am and what motivates me. I genuinely hope you enjoy reading this blog. Give my Instagram and Twitter a follow! Links to the right of this page!
